I remember the first porn I saw. It was a magazine we found in the forest on a school trip. Not much later a few of those magazines would be in heavy circulation among the boys.
That was before we got our hands on some copies of some copies of some copies of a few worn out VHS cassettes of hairy German porn from the seventies that someone had stolen from someones else’s dad. Then came the folder of 700 images that got copied from computer to computer on floppy discs around the world.
Internet changed all that though. Suddenly we all had a distorted telescope into a billion zillion bedrooms. Looking at vaginas became normal.
It was a perfect match, porn and the internet, that seemed to catalyze the process of technological development. There is more porn than anything else out there, and I am sure a great deal of people get internet at home mostly to look at porn. Then the resolution of the videos increased and they had to upgrade their computers and so on.
There is a lot of weird shit out there though. I have seen stuff that I regret that I saw, porn that still haunts me, and I’m not saying that looking at people fucking is necessarily contributing to the process of normalizing sex. It might remove some sexual frustration for some, but it kind of builds up a lot too.
It’s a massive industry that is sort of not available to Lebanon in it’s full blossom due to the incredibly slow internet connection. If you want to look at a vagina on the internet you have to be patient and wait for it to load, making it feel like you have to deserve it.
But even if they have an internet that reminds me of floppy discs, xhamster.com (one of the largest porn sites in the world) slowly loads on computer screens across the country at a frequency that makes it rank as the 22nd most visited website in Lebanon. Impressive patience right there, especially when you know that pornography is illegal.
However, there are something called Super Night Clubs. They are like night clubs, but they really are super because you can buy whatever you want there. Happy endings guaranteed. Or non symmetrical match making, if you like.
Because, unlike porn, prostitution legal-ish in Lebanon. In reality this means that Super Night Clubs are allowed to operate as brothels IF they have a license to do so. But since those licenses are not really issued anymore, the 130 or so Super Night Clubs have to find alternative ways to dodge the law.
The hookers come in from all around the world and are issued “artist” visas to artistically sell their bodies to desperate men. You can meet these girls at the Super Night Clubs where you can book a date with them. That’s right. You have to plan ahead. Because fucking your hooker on the spot would make it illegal, as it would be prostitution (with no license). That’s not a problem though, as “your” girl is going to be locked up in a hotel room the whole next day. All you have to do is to buy her a bottle of champagne and book an hour with her. Then you can fuck her without it being prostitution you see. No laws broken! Everybody is happy!
And if the girls are making any trouble their “artist” visas will get suspended and they get deported, so I wouldn’t worry so much about that.
That’s at least what they say. I’ve never been to a Super Night Club, and I don’t think it’s going to happen. Instead I’m stuck with a folder of way too familiar porn on my hard disk that I’m totally bored of.
