Guys! What’s going on with this weather? Remember four days ago when we had that insane dry desert wind and it was stifling hot even at night? Convection oven style. But dry weather doesn’t mean dry obsessions, in fact I’m gonna get juicy this week even if I’ve got to artificially create it, ‘knaw what I’m sayin. Here are some tunes that you’ll enjoy weather you’re wet or dry ;)
1. No Djarusu – Kayente from 2famous!
Did everyone see the introduction to our international branch of 2famous crew in Suriname last week!? Ok I’ve listened to all of their songs and I listen to this song about 3 times a day. 2famous is totally kicking ass in Surniame, but this song is from their visit to NYC. It’s your reggae fix for the weekend. Let it get stuck in your head. PS Keyente is totally caliente. Mmm.
2. Losing You: Solange Knowles
First track seems to be everyone’s new obsession including mine. It’s from Solange Knowles (Beyonce’s sister!!). Whether you just <3 the video she filmed in South Africa with these 1960's homemade-suit-dandy-man-clan or the 80's-ish soft dance beat, I think it's a winner.
3. I Love It: Icona Pop
I love this ultimate girl-power party track! Great way to kick off the weekend and cause some trouble, especially with all these SHARE conferences and performances around the city.
4. California Sunrise: Dirty Gold
There’s no doubt you’ll be a bit hungover this weekend so turn this baby on and relax a little from second 01 with soothing sounds of the sea. Who knows what a California sunrise looks like, it’s the Beirut sunrise that you should be partying to at least once a weekend. Here’s your recovery song.
5. Bad Insect :Ultraista
This one’s a wild card for you, I was introduced to this track by a friend this week. It took more than one listen to really dig it and now I am totally confident to share it on my weekly obsession. It’s got kind of an ambient trippy background with some sweet strong vocals. She’s not gonna sing unless somebody’s holding on, so give a grab I guess.
