HOVE goes hardcore when L.A. rapper hits the stage
Earl Sweatshirt, who hails from my hometown adjacent city of Los Angeles (well, as you’ll see in the video, even if L.A. is the easiest point of reference on the international scene, if you grew up in the ‘burbs, never tell people who are actually from L.A. that you’re from there, because they will call your Orange County ass out so fast), shook the AMFI stage with some hard-as-fuck beats yesterday.
Small-scale hip hop shows are rarely good. When you’re just a guy with a mic and a DJ behind you, it’s hard to carry a show. It gets repetitive and boring unless you’re a fan or a live band is involved. When you’re a just a guy with a mic and a DJ behind you and you’re performing in front of a bunch of clueless drunken Scandi kids, it gets awkward. As I watched, I thought Earl was feeling the same way…that the audience was disconnected, despite his amped up performance.
As we tried to get backstage to interview MIA (I... [more]
My first acting job for an Art Event, ever!
Art projects are a bit like acting jobs. They don´t grow on trees. Thats why i am really happy I got to act in the trailer for the super Secret Walls Art Battle that is taking place at Radio Beirut tonight!
My character was playing chess against a girl in my scene. My own name, Matias Carlsen, is very similar to the name of norwegian world champion of chess Magnus Carlsen, so it is easy to understand that I am typically been name cast for this role. To have a soft and understanding male playing chess probably reflects on how the scandinavian society is looked upon. I am sure my kind features was also important to the director.
I hope this gig can be a springboard to more important jobs in the future, but if you have any feedback on how I can improve my acting, let me know! Check the video and info about the event below:
Secret Walls is the World’s premier live art battle. Taki... [more]
Can the Lebanese Acting Industry be saved by Charity Acting?
It is easy to blame things on the “The Situation” when things are going wrong, but lately it has influenced my acting carere too much to shut up about it. Acting jobs were already so scarce that Jørgen went back to Norway to pursue his dreams there. I figured with him out of the way,I would be the only Norwegian here and acting jobs would come flying. Just like in the good old days. But I was wrong.
After being rejected from at least two castings (a bank and 7Up commercials) I figured something was wrong and I was forced to ask my agent about it. He told me production is down and actors are having a hard time getting butter on the table all over the Middle East. Auditions are crowded all over Beirut even for “Non-Speaking” roles, and if you want to get a “line”, even in a commercial, you totally need to talk Wasta (?) Which is reall... [more]
Here I sit overlooking the rooftops of Oslo while it’s pouring down from the gray sky. It’s that time of the year where all you want to do is to sit inside and drink red wine while being melancholic. I daydream about Lebanon, though Beirut somehow feels like an oriental dream in the distance. It’s so different from where I am right now. It’s almost surreal. But I guess that’s why I fell in love with Lebanon in the first place, and that’s what kept me there for four years. You’re never alone in Beirut. You’re never bored in Beirut, and there’s always a new surprise waiting for you around every corner. While Norway is slow, stable and boring, Lebanon is fast, unpredictable and interesting. And there is always a new party. One of the things Lebanon is so famous for is their parties, and even if “nothing’s going on” in Lebanon,... [more]
Finally we made it!
On our third try, 2famous.TV finally managed to capture an epic night at Uberhaus’ The Garten and partied until the sun came up. Every Saturday night throughout the summer, some of the world’s best house DJ’s will play in the club’s massive open-air dome while you chill out on some lounge chairs, dance your heart out, or drink yourself silly..just like we did!
Check out their schedule on Facebook.
This is a follow up story from when we tried to make a video two weeks ago, but got too wasted to film, and had to leave before the party started.... [more]
– We joined them build the Dome!
– See exclusive video here!!!
When we first came here in 2010 we didn’t really know much about Beirut. Well, we had some distorted ideas from the images that our TV screens had washed our brains with from early childhood, but that shit was just too fucked up to believe – so we suppressed those memories.
Apart from all that, one thing managed to penetrate the twisted image that the international media has created of this city: we knew it was the party capital of the Middle East. And on that level Beirut has not failed us. Over the years we’ve been to tons of house parties, pool parties, beach parties, rooftop parties, river parties, raves, and random street parties, but we have never EVER been to a dome party here.
And that’s a pretty good idea as the summer is about to hit this city on full blast, meaning that you’re going to like spending your summer nights outdoors and not in someones AC’d basement (thank God (or the government) for the smoke ban). <... [more]
– 2Famous.TV colleague, Russel Brand, soon to come to Lebanon!
2Famous.TV got a hold of the exclusive video where Brand challenges the hosts to talk about Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden and stuff that matters. It seemed like the hosts of the show had no idea who these iconic figures of our generation were. The subjects Brand wanted to talk about proved to be to difficult for the “journalists” who hadn´t even learned Russell Brand’s name before the interview.
But don’t worry, Russell Brand gets to call the main interviewer a “Shaft Holder” in the end of the show.
Coming to Lebanon? Our Colleague Russel Brand is reported to come to Lebanon during his up and coming world tour called the Messiah Complex, but we are still waiting for... [more]
OMG my dad is too cool for school!
A few months ago I got a phone call from my dad who was a bit more excited than usual. – “I am starting a TV-Channel,” he told me, “Just like you guys and 2Famous.TV! It’s an extreme sports channel on cable called FatStone!”
Oh my god, my dad is just too cool, I thought.Basically, my dad, Even, has been keeping up with 2Famous.TV and acknowledged how cost effective it is to run a TV-Channel, so he teamed up with his childhood buddy, entrepreneur and extreme sport guru Kjell Vagle to establish Fatstone.TV.
It is the first new TV channel to hit Norwegian television in 6 years, and they will focus on extreme sports such a... [more]
— “OMG I am so happy to be back in Beirut!” ~ Jørgen Evil Ekvoll
After a month in Nepal Jørgo realised he missed Beirut and the Lebanese girls just too much!
To make a long story short: He went back to Lebanon just in time to get wasted before the season opening at the Sterio Club Nights at Solea V, and showed Beirut how cool he was 😉
Next Party This Saturday (8th of June)!!! Join us!... [more]
– No one seems to know what they are talking about, and it’s ruining my life!
“Hipster” seems to be a new word in the vernacular of Beirut, and the local media seem desperate to jump on the bandwagon. Everyone and everything that looks a tad different is labeled “hipster”. It’s embarrassing. But what’s even more embarrassing is that they have picked me as the “poster boy” of the Beirut hipsters and started slapping that title all over me! Obviously they have no idea what’s going on, and it’s ruining my life!
