Can the Lebanese Acting Industry be saved by Charity Acting?
It is easy to blame things on the “The Situation” when things are going wrong, but lately it has influenced my acting carere too much to shut up about it. Acting jobs were already so scarce that Jørgen went back to Norway to pursue his dreams there. I figured with him out of the way,I would be the only Norwegian here and acting jobs would come flying. Just like in the good old days. But I was wrong.
After being rejected from at least two castings (a bank and 7Up commercials) I figured something was wrong and I was forced to ask my agent about it. He told me production is down and actors are having a hard time getting butter on the table all over the Middle East. Auditions are crowded all over Beirut even for “Non-Speaking” roles, and if you want to get a “line”, even in a commercial, you totally need to talk Wasta (?) Which is reall... more
-I landed the starring female lead in a Chinese action movie!
I’m almost 25 everybody, it’s a subject we’ve discussed before. The world is at my fingertips despite my bank account almost plummeting to 0. But that’s ok! Every graduation speech and every tidbit of advice from old successfuls is to do what you’re passionate about. Find something you love and go for it, or at least dip your toes into many fields and see what you like. So I’ve been doing just that! I’ve got my own dream Cooking Show, I host a weekly live Radio Show, and just last month, I got to star as the main female lead in a Chinese action drama!
Matias spotted a tweet searching for American-accented people in Beirut and I shot an email (with my cooking show episodes attached- multitasking!) faster ... more
VIDEO: Jørgen has a total break down while Matias got a part in Vodaphone’s commercial about the life of Egyptian Rock Star Mohamed Mounir. During the shoot Matias manages to learn about Vodaphone’s real intentions for using the old icon in their commercial. He is shocked to find out they wanted to use Mohamed Mounir (and Matias) to win back the trust of the Egyptian people after they closed down the network during the Egyptian revolution! This video is a follow up, click here to watch the previous video.

Acting can be very hectic and stressful. Sometimes you forget the name of your character or the name of the film you are shooting. And I admit that I have even shot movies I have absolutely no idea what are about.
That will NOT happen anymore!
As in so many other cases, it is more likely that your ignorance will lead to the worse. We have seen in the last couple of days a crazy stigmatizing film about The Prophet that has made people go crazy. Burning embassies, killing ambassadors, rioting and stuff. I bet those actors in that movie didn’t really read the script. Or, if they did, (this happened to me once, sorry), they didn’t understand it. You know, although it is written, it doesn’t necessarily make any sense. This shows that we actors must try to be responsible, not only when we are out of the movie sets, like we have seen Angelina Jolie do in Lebanon, but also when … we’re acting.

Matias gets a huge role in the trailer for “Nanbel – one of Lebanon’s first serious dark comedies. As this can be Matias shot to get some serious fame, Jørgen hits the wall and their friendship is being put to a test. What will he do without Matias?... more
After some really hard rounds of auditions we finally got the parts we have been dreaming of our whole lives. In this shoot we are representing our native tribe, the Vikings. Having grown up more or less as vikings, we noticed that the props and costumes where especially well done. Although we both had pretty good parts in this movie, Jørgen got extra lucky!... more
Famous people like Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Shakira and Britney Spears have all worked for Pepsi at different occasions. However, when Pepsi wanted a face for their new campaign in the Middle East, the multinational corporation offered the job to 2Famous.TV Matias. Check out the video from behind the scenes!... more
We were headhunted for prestigious Roles!
After several months with no jobs, we finally got invited to take part in a casting for a viking commercial. No problem for us, as our ancestors were vikings. It’s simply in our blood, but it’s been a while since we let out our primal screams…... more
Yes, we’re still broke. We’ve been collecting coins from the gutter to buy bread and water.
And then, as we were begging strangers for change outside of a shop, Matias discovered his face on a TV-screen! A Pepsi commercial! Among all the jobs, it’s hard to remember which ones you’ve been in, and which ones you’ve been payed for. So we called our agent for a little meeting.... more
As we were recording this music video, Jørgen had an accident and fell over the table and Matias got angry. Normal stars would probably try to hide such humiliating moments, but to us it’s important to give our fans the full picture, no matter what it is. We are like that you see, we know how to laugh at ourselves.more
Here is one of the short movies that we’ve been acting in. It’s actually quite nostalgic to watch it, as it was the first production we’ve been part of in Lebanon. It’s also the first time we got to work together on the set. We come in at second thirty eight.

So, let us introduce ourselves. We are Jørgen Evil Ekvoll, and Matias Nordahl Carlsen. We’re both from the Kingdom of Norway, but have relocated to Beirut, Lebanon. That’s where we met, over a chicken on the streets. That’s where we live, and we live together.
Before that, Matias earned international fame through his documentaries, where he hitch-hiked around the world without a penny.
Jørgen has had international success as an artist, being represented at the most prestigious art fairs all over the world, without making a penny.
Always the stars at the school plays, acting became a way of surviving: We both learned at an early age that, if only temporarily, we could become whomever we wanted to be. Later we learned that this is called “method acting”. It’s simply in our blood.
Now that we’ve achieved our goals in the West, we figured it was about time to concur the Middle East with our acting talen... more
